CDAC Accredited

The Detnal Hygiene program at Regency Dental Hygiene Academy is a CDAC accredited program. Regency is registered in Ontario as a Private Career College under the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Graduates of any dental hygiene school must sit for the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board Examination. The College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO) is the regulatory body for dental hygiene in the province of Ontario. To practise dental hygiene in Ontario, a person must, upon graduating, inform and register with the CDHO.

All arrangements and fees associated with both writing the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board Examination and registering with CDHO are the responsibility of the student/graduate. The respective fees are payable directly to the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board and to the CDHO.

Successful trip to Vancouver

First of all...thanks to all those who came to visit us at the Hyatt in Vancouver!  It was truly a pleasure to meet each and every one of you.

We arrived to dreary weather but upon arriving at our hotel we were enveloped by lovely gingerbread homes and estates!  If you are downtown Vancouver you may want to stop in to the Hyatt and vote on your favourite display.  The mountains were not visible for most of our stay so the students recommended we make some time to travel up Grouse Mountain.  Excellent advice as it turned out--Thank you!  We will post pictures soon to demonstrate the amazing views we enjoyed!

While we love when prospective students have the opportunity to see our school first hand before enrolling, we recognize the value of coming to you.  As a result of our successful trip to Vancouver, we are planning our next trip in the new year.  We are considering a stop over in Calgary to allow us to meet with more Alberta based students before landing in Vancouver.  It may be too late for the March class but we can interview those interested in the September class.

If you are exploring a career in Dental Hygiene and you would like to be considered for an interview in either Vancouver or Calgary, please contact Kathryn Phillips.  She can be reached by e-mail at kphillips@regencydha.ca or by phone at 416 341-0100 EXT 11.  Kathryn will let you know what documents she requires before our meeting and she will set up an interview for you as soon as dates are set.

Accepting Applications

We are currently accepting applications for March 2009.

Thank you to all who applied for the March class during the first wave.  Everyone who completed their application by October 31st, will receive a response by no later than November 3, 2008.  If you did not meet the requirements to secure a spot in March feel free to contact us to discuss courses you may take to prepare yourself to apply again in the future.

We will only accept 48 students for March. If you wish to be considered for one of the remaining seats please contact us immediately.  Each application will be considered on its merits and a decision will be rendered within no more than two weeks from the scheduled interview.

We will be pleased to set up your personal interview and tour immediately.

Health Promotion at Cummer LINC

Regency Dental Hygiene Academy partnered with Cummer LINC in North York, one of the Toronto District School Board’s locations for offering English as a second language (ESL) programs.  Senior Regency students presented educational programs to the adult ESL learners on a variety of oral health topics.  The lively, interactive sessions were much appreciated by the learners as well as the staff at Cummer LINC.

Graduation Spring 2008

The class of Spring 2008 attended its “Graduation Celebration” on Sunday April 13, 2008 at the Bayview Country Club where an audience of 167, comprised of students, parents, relatives and friends along side members of faculty and staff honoured the accomplishments of this fine class.

All present enjoyed a lovely meal, ceremony and slide show created by the graduating class.  Roxanne Bartel, President/CEO welcomed the guests and challenged the students to pursue their dreams.  After an encouraging address from Dr. Malcolm Yasny, the school’s founder, May Diakoloukas , Program Director, presented each graduate with their diploma and a single red rose.  Family circled around and cameras sparkled light on the stage collecting images to be treasured for decades.
