Employment Opportunities
As reported in a 2001 survey by the Ontario Dental Hygienists’ Association, the employment rate for dental hygienists was approximately 92%.
The opportunities for employment include private practice settings in offices performing general dentistry and/or specialties such as periodontics, orthodontics, and paediatric dentistry. Other areas include public health clinics and geriatric institutions, as well as teaching opportunities in dental faculties and dental hygiene schools.
The ability to enjoy flexible hour schedules, or part-time employment, is an attraction to those who wish to divide their time between a workplace environment and family responsibilities.
Employment Assistance to Our Students
Although Regency cannot guarantee employment, students will be provided, upon their request, with information on what to expect at employment interviews and how to prepare for such.
A review of a student’s resumé will be available to ensure that the text, grammar and form are reflective of the student’s abilities.
Appropriate advertisements will be inserted in selected dental journal(s) to apprise dentists that, should they require a dental hygienist, they may provide an advertisement to Regency which will be appropriately placed for students to view and to respond. There will be no charge to the dentist for such advertisements.
