Our Mission
Regency Dental Hygiene Academy’s aim is to ensure that its graduates are educated to perform all recognized dental hygiene procedures in the most proficient manner, based on a sound theoretical, pre-clinical, and clinical learning experience, and directed to comply with the Standards of Practice as outlined by the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO).
Dental hygiene is a health-care discipline, which is regulated under the “Regulated Health Professions Act (1991)” and the “Dental Hygiene Act (1991)”. The Dental Hygienist, as a registered oral health professional, has five areas of responsibility:
Clinical Therapy
- Refers to preventive and therapeutic services supporting a client in their efforts to achieve optimal oral and body health.
Health Promotion
- Refers to the process of providing education to members of the public to increase their awareness and control over their health.
Education
- Refers to teaching/learning that can occur in environments such as private practice or in dental hygiene schools as instructors.
Administration
- Refers to policy development and management processes that can occur in any practice environment.
Research
- Refers to informal and formal scientific inquiry.
One of the academy’s prime objectives is to provide relevant and learning centred experiences for our students to explore the full scope of dental hygiene practice with emphasis on the above areas. The tenet espoused to all graduates is that their primary goal is the provision, to the public, of the very best dental health care.
Events
"Not only was the faculty knowledgeable, but they were also dedicated in helping the students achieve their goals."
~ Naila I.A. (Graduate)
